About The Product:

The Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver is a running partner and personal trainer duo designed for athletes who wish to track their performance training.  Its worn on the wrist like a watch and features a highly sensitive GPS receiver, various course features and a dynamic ANT wireless heart rate monitor for top-rate performance checks. The Forerunners super sensitive GPS tracks your every move and location and is highly responsive even beneath tree-covered trails or along perimeter areas near high-rise buildings.

A heart device charts your heart rate, speed, pace, distance and calorie usage so you can maximize training and achieve optimum performance. The courses feature allows a user to download recorded courses to follow or use previous workouts as benchmarks for performance improvements. It comes with an Auto-Pause capability which suspends tracking when youre at rest and picks up where you left off once you resume the course. You can also use  the Garmin Forerunner with an optional  Foot Pod, a wireless sensor you can attach to your running shoes to transmit pace and distance data when GPS reception is unavailable.

Wireless communication between system devices is enabled via the ANT protocol and the gadget comes with a rechargeable internal lithium-ion battery. Battery life is about 10 hours with standard use. The Garmin Forerunner is also water-resistant and can be submerged in water depths of about 1 meter for up to half an hour.

Customer Feedback-

"I had hoped that owning this device would prove motivational for me, and indeed it has. I can't imagine running or biking without it. Updating my training log is trivial now: Plug this thing into my computer, and it's done."

"The bottom line is that the 305 does what I need it to do for pace and distance and is, in my view, far superior to any of the pod based systems."

"My favorite feature is the ability to "race against yourself": I have programmed in a few standard courses, so when I go out for a run or a ride I can compare my current performance to my previous one: "at this point in the ride, I'm 67 feet behind where I was last time." This is a great motivator, especially when I'm just not in the mood to go hard: I can't stand gradually (or quickly) falling behind my previous pace, which after all I know is within my power, so I push harder. I really like this feature."

"
When running I especially like the auto pause feature, which stops the time being recorded for laps and records the time standing still, such as a rest stop or waiting for a traffic light to change. This is far superior to manually stopping the timer, because many times you resume running and forget to turn the timer back on."
